Pencil skirts: a STAPLE. (and why I love them.)
A pencil skirt. So basic; but so functional. It’s like the little black dress’s (or LBD as fashionistas often fondly call it) sassy little sister. A pencil skirt hugs the body, accentuating curves that are present or creating the illusion of curves that aren’t there at all. For those reasons alone, I myself am a huge fan of a great pencil skirt.
You may walk past the store windows in the mall, spot a pencil skirt on a mannequin in the window and wonder to yourself, “how would I wear that?!”. I myself have always loved the look of a great pencil skirt but could never think of a reason to buy one or an occasion to wear it. I don’t work in an office anymore and I always thought of the skirts being super formal, and being 5’8″ I rarely wear heels.
I recently bought an incredible pencil skirt at an even more incredible price…only $15.00 from Urban Planet and it wasn’t even on sale. I’ve already worn it four times, once to a club, twice to work, and once to an funeral. When you break that down that works out to less than $4.00 a wear. That’s getting your money’s worth for sure!:)
HOWEVER pencil skirts are AMAZING! They are affordable and this season there are so many options in the stores right now. You can wear them with heels, or with cute flats. Because pencil skirts are often black, spice up the look with coloured or studded flats for a pop of colour or flare. Top your pencil skirt off with a cute cropped and fitted tee or turtle neck which are so popular this fall. This look works best for the more high waisted styles of skirts. A plain, solid coloured cropped top with a pencil skirt can also be accessorized with a great wide belt. I love animal print or anything red, so those would be my top two choices. (skirt shown is actual skirt I own, 8 gold buttons black high waisted pencil skirt, Urban Planet stores and online)
Actress and animal rights activist, Hayden Pantierre is a huge lover of a great pencil skirt. Above is a great example of five different yet similar classic looks. Great night and day looks, A cute little cardigan would take all looks from day to night also.
It’s Saturday night. Now you know why I love my new pencil skirt, and why you should make a pencil skirt a staple in your closet this season,
Kisses my pretties!
